7 new Themes From Hell 7" records are now on sale from Cadabra Records!

7 Themes From Hell 7’’ records that cover a wide range of some of my isolated soundtrack work for the label are now in hand at Cadabra headquarters! These vinyl releases just went on sale as individual 7” records as well as very limited sets containing all 7. Thanks once again to Jonathan Dennison for putting this gorgeous series of instrumental records together and I’m excited that people will be able to experience these scores in isolated form. It’s a fantastic series of titles that are for immortal works by Thomas Ligotti, Arthur Machen, Ambrose Bierce, H.P. Lovecraft and M.R. James!

My soundtracks for these 7” records in-part explore pulsating electronic music, evocative and psychedelic folk music, minimal piano compositions as well spectral soundscapes. Some of the instruments I played on these different scores include a vast array of analog and digital synthesizers, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, assorted hand percussion, dulcimer, tamboura and harmonium. All of the soundtracks were masterfully produced by Barry Knob who also contributed stunning arrangements and additional keyboard parts on a number of these releases/themes. It was an amazing experience to collaborate with Pentagram Home Video on the wonderfully atmospheric soundtrack for Count Magnus. On Gas Station Carnivals , Ben Harowitz contributed extraordinarily haunting saxophone arrangements based around the guitar themes. Todd Mendelsohn provided magnificent string and keyboard arrangements for the guitar passages.

Jonathan Dennison has put enormous care into these exquisite releases and the design of each of them is stellar! The hand screened, triple panel sleeves that each of these 7” records are housed in are immensely beautiful. Breathtaking art on every release with visionary works by Jason Barnett for all three of the Ligotti releases, Karmazid for Beyond the Wall of Sleep and The Great God Pan, Matthew Jaffe for Count Magnus and Adam Burke for The Death of Halpin Frayser.
